These absolutely beautiful posters, titled the Supernatural Inspired Poster Set, have the profile silhouettes of Sam, Dean, and Castiel, from the show Supernatural. Inside these silhouettes are memorable quotes that they have said throughout the many episodes of the show.
For example, some of my favorite quotes included on these posters are:
Sam- "Too precious for this world".
Dean- "Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cake hole".
Castiel- "This is a den of iniquity, I should not be here".
I was so excited when Stephen, the wonderful person that runs the Etsy Shop, OutNerdMe, offered to send me one of his poster sets. Of course, between all of the wonderful different sets, it was hard to choose! He also graciously offered to send a poster set to me, to giveaway to one of my lucky followers! (More on that soon!)
Wondering why it was so difficult for me to decide? Well, when you see all these posters, I think you can understand why I was so conflicted. Just look at these posters:

Now, let's move onto the actual review!
First off, communication.
He was excellent at communicating with me. All of my questions were answered very quickly and he was very friendly and helpful.

Shipping:
Shipping was very fast. I got in touch with him six days ago, and he told me that he would mail them out in a couple days. I received the package yesterday. So it really was a very short wait time! I got the package delivered to my door as shown here:
On the right, you can see what it looked like inside the tube. All the posters were together inside a sleeve to protect them. And all of them arrived completely undamaged.
Fast shipping and poster in excellent condition? I give shipping 5/5.
Quality:
Really, my camera doesn't do these beautiful posters justice. The colors for the backgrounds are beautiful, the silhouette is clear and there really isn't any imperfections at all. There were no dents, no scratches, and no wrinkles whatsoever. The quality for these posters are great, so I easily give it 5/5.
I got some nice frames from Walmart (which you can by here, if you'd like to get them for any poster you might want to get from OutNerdMe), and this is the finished result:
I have them set up vertically on the wall next to my window, beside my bed, and they look amazing.
So, over all, I give the posters, and OutNerdMe: 5/5.
The whole experience was just really lovely, and I definitely want to buy more of his posters. (Especially that Harry Potter one!)

The Power Of Feedback And More Changes! Plus PTD3 Mystery Gift!

The power of feedback
So last week I released the first prototype for you to play with and take a look at how my initial ideas for Cosmoids TD have been taking shape. While I didn't get a huge amount of feedback, I did get some key ones that will actually impact and change the game.
The change I'm going to make is that instead of having your Avatar have to go to spots to place the cosmoids. The cosmoids will instead go from the Avatar to their spots. So the speed at which your units will move to and from spots will always be based on your cosmoids speed. This always allows you to quickly place your units on the map, instead of having to wait for your avatar.
However, even though your avatar will no longer be moving to place cosmoids I still plan to have your avatar move for things like healing or buffing your cosmoids.
More changes
Lately I've been focusing on how Cosmoids TD will be different from the PTD series. It's a mix of seeing what worked and what didn't work for PTD in my eyes and trying to change things up to make them more interested or require a little more planning. One of the first changes I thought about was about how your Cosmoids will level up.Leveling Up
First a small history lesson, in PTD1 your towers would gain experience by battling, very similar to the original Pokemon games. Your tower had to be a part of the battle for it to gain experience. Once they gathered enough experience you could use your PokeDollars to level them up. This was pretty interesting to me because it made you have to make a choice in which tower you wanted to level up first. However as you played the game, the amount of dollars you got was so high that leveling up was no longer a problem and so there was no longer a choice.
So much so that in PTD2 and 3 I no longer had leveling up cost anything. Looking back I think Tower Defense games are very much about choosing what you do with your resources so this is something that I want to bring back for Cosmoids, with a twist.
My current idea is that when you defeat an enemy cosmoid you will earn what I'm calling "Meteor Dust", this dust is essentially your resource to do many things in the game including leveling up.
The change is that your Cosmoids doesn't have to see battle to level up, you can simple "give" it some Meteor Dust to make them level up. So you will still be battling to get dust and then once you have enough to level up your Cosmoids the game will let you know and then you can make your choice whether you want to use it to level up or to purchase an item etc. You can also choose which of your Cosmoids will get the dust. The challenge will be to keep the dust as a somewhat more limited resource compared to PTD1 where money was plentiful after a certain point in the game removing any choice.
Single and Active Attacks
As I'm designing Cosmoids I'm going through all the areas of PTD and seeing what I want to change and what I want to keep the same. So lately I've been looking at Attacks. In PTD your towers have 4 attacks to mirror what exist on the pokemon games. For Cosmoids I may be rethinking this, some of the ideas I have are towards lowering the amount of attack switching that can currently exist in the PTD series and focus more on interactive active attacks similar to Champions! The Last Defense, where you would have a more active role in attacking your waves.
As with everything, the design can change and evolve over time when creating a game so these can be subject to change.
PTD3 Mystery Gift!
For PTD3 while I'm no longer developing new content for it, like new levels etc. I will still be doing mystery gifts as I can do those relatively quickly.

Painting Challenge: Blood Bowl - Da Jestaz
Time to get my latest entry from the Painting Challenge up. Blood Bowl Orcs from the new plastic box set from GW. I had originally planned to get these done before New Years, but as it would turn out these were deceptively simple looking and took way more time than expected. I almost got them ready for last week, but couldn't get the decals and basing done in time. Well at least they are ready now!
Thinking about colour schemes I decided to go with my local hockey team, Jokerit (Jesters), which is currently playing in the KHL as the only Finnish team. They used to be one of the top teams from the Finnish league, but a couple of years ago they signed up for the Russian equivalent of NHL. First two seasons went pretty well with them being one of the top teams from the league, but honestly this season has been pretty embarrassing. I was thinking between this and the team I played most my years in junior hockey, but in the end decided to leave that scheme for the human team. As Jokerit was the local rival back then for us it felt better to picture them as the brutes.
As I said they ended up much harder to paint than expected. As they are push fit models with connecting points in visible areas they really had to be put completely together before painting, which made reaching some of the detail extremely difficult. My method of painting them was also pretty suboptimal. I normally paint all the areas with a base shade before washing and then doing the highlight layers, but I guess on these picking a proper order and doing an area from the start to finish starting from the recesses and working up would have been far better. There were countless times when I messed up some area I had already gone over when I tried to do something in a small crevice and had to go back and touch it up again. Also the combination of red and yellow was far from ideal. It's pretty unbelievable how you can get a shade that doesn't cover a lightly washed version of itself in under 4 coats of paint. Needless to say they were a pain at times to paint.
I was thinking quite a while about adding weathering on them, but in the end I ended up with leaving them cleaner and with a more cartoony look. Just seems to suit Blood Bowl minis better. Plus if I get fed up with it it's always easy to go back and add scratches etc. on them. However to break the monotony of the armour I decided to paint the checkerboard pattern that somehow is so iconically orky. Another thing that got left out was the team logo. I tried to freehand a suitably Orkyfied version of the Jokerit logo on them, but my brush skills just weren't up to it. Luckily it was easy to remove the shabby tries from a varnished surface.The logo will be added at a later time when I've gotten around to ordering suitable custom decals for them. It's just so much easier to design it on the computer and get it printed out. I'd do it myself, but I want it to be white and haven't found any place where I can use a printer that is capable of printing white. Luckily Fallout Hobbies does custom decals for a reasonable price and I've used them in the past and liked the quality, so I'm gonna get a sheet from them when I've figured out the logo for the human team as well. Player positions and numbers are from the normal GW sheet that comes with the box. As a more ideal team composition would have 4 Black Orcs and 4 Blitzers I left my player numbering empty for them in preparation for the future whenever I end up buying reinforcements.
Since taking these pictures I've gone back and added some pigments to their boots to vary the tone as suggested by Martin on the challenge blog. Definitely ups the look of the minis. With these done it's back to Flames of War for the last couple of vehicles I need for the end of the month. I've also got the two Blood Bowl referees to paint up that are about half way through, but that I didn't get ready for last weeks entry. We'll see about this week. Painting time is a bit limited with a business trip and the whole renovation thing disrupting my free time.
